About OBGuide
Healthy mothers, healthy babies!
Obguide is a free, constantly updated on-line guide to assure health for pregnant women and their babies worldwide. As there are millions of scientific publications on pregnancy, our goal was to review for you all the best data, and present it in summary for easy use in clinical practice, with many tables, and algorithms. Key points at the beginning of every chapter should be helpful for a quick review. We wanted to keep it brief, evidence-based, clinician oriented, reasonably priced, and widely available. We hope to involve women in their own care.
We made sure that all randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses of such trials pertinent to obstetrics were reviewed and included. So this is truly an evidence-based publication. Many authorities state that not much works for preventing poor outcomes in pregnancy. We happen to see it differently. This website will prove to you that there are dozens of interventions that have been shown to significantly improve the care of the pregnant woman and her baby in-utero, and therefore save babies and improve their quality of life. We wanted to present them to you with the ultimate goal to see them used appropriately. We already know a lot, but often do not implement these often easy interventions. As physicians, we have to apply the many known interventions that we know work.
This website is the brainchild and 'baby' of one person, but the effort and product of many experts. I thank all my colleagues who have contributed, and you the reader. If you have any questions, comments, criticisms, please email me at vincenzo.berghella@jefferson.edu. This effort can only be successful if many share their knowledge.
For healthy mothers and healthy babies,
Vincenzo Berghella
